I keep thinking that when I hear liberals – Occupy protesters, redistributionists, and the anti-rich crowd – say “Corporations are too powerful” that the overbearing, over-regulating Federal Government is Far more powerful. So much so that:

  • Tobacco companies can’t advertise, or even market their products to new customers.
  • Petroleum companies can’t drill for oil.
  • Coal companies can’t dig mines.
  • Timber companies can’t pull down trees.
  • Car companies can’t decide how much power their cars should have.
  • Restaurants can’t serve the food their customers desire.

I had a fantasy the other day, imagining a Constitutional Convention held in the current time, rather than the 1770’s. While the American Civil War occurred “four-score and seven years” after the founding of the country, but I fear that an even bigger conflict would result in a far shorter period of time if we were to attempt to remake our country at this point. Ideologically we are just too far apart.

America’s stain of slavery and subsequent discrimination against blacks is one that she will always bear – even though over time, through hard work, it has faded into obscurity. As a black American, Barack Obama’s election to the Presidency was an historic achievement. However, his subsequent term as President has been an historic failure of enormous proportions.

Heard this on the radio the other day – it was a disclaimer at the end of an ad supporting a Democrat policy / agenda (I can’t remember what it was): “The preceding statement contains forward-looking statements which may not be fully realized.” Translation: “That ad you just heard is about stuff we just totally made up. If it doesn’t happen, it’s not our fault.” I was laughing hysterically, but I was sad at the same time, realizing the depths to which the left has fallen.

I really cannot understand how anyone would support destroying the protections of the Constitution’s 1st Amendment in order to force religious institutions to provide contraceptives, abortifacients and sterilization services against their deeply held convictions. Even if you are not a religious person, as Americans, we have always valued the freedom we cherish to worship (or not) as we please, so much so, that even atheists have died in combat to protect those very rights. The Obama regime’s attack on Catholics and against the American people and the Constitution is despicable and unwarranted.

That’s all for now!
