I was watching an episode of “Young Justice” a show based on characters of the DC Comics Universe last night on my DVR when I suddenly saw something that made me grin from ear to ear.

If you haven’t yet watched the show (it’s extraordinarily good), or are unfamiliar with some of the show’s elements, a quick primer: Young Justice is a show based primarily on the exploits and adventures of the younger superheroes of the DC universe – Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Super Boy, etc. The show’s episodes are short vignettes or chapters of longer storylines featuring the characters interacting with senior members of the Justice League (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, et al.)

One of the features of the show is that the heroes have access to “zeta-beam teleportation technology” which allows them to travel from various points around the globe. In the show, these points are typically depicted as abandoned, run-down places; the better to disguise the technology, its use and the heroes themselves.

So, to my astonishment, while watching the episode “Insecurity”, one of these teleport points is disguised as the instantly recognizable TARDIS from Doctor Who! Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The famous blue box, with the “Police ‘Public Call’ Box” nameplate along the top edge, the pulsing blue light atop, the pair of six-paned windows… they were all there. It was awesomeriffic. Obviously some Whovians work for DC. You can watch the episode here; the TARDIS sequence is within the first 3 minutes.
