For those who don’t yet know, “Barrycade” is a playful portmanteau of “Barry”, the nickname by which President Obama was known in his youth as a tyrant-in-training, and barricade, the means by which tyrants keep citizens at bay.

In an effort to maximize the pain and inconvenience of the #ObamaShutdown of the Federal Government, the Obama Administration gave explicit instructions to its myriad minions, workers, goons and bureaucrats, to “make life as difficult for people as [they] can.” Instead of being cowed, citizens who define their patriotism by love of country – not love of government – chose to defy the despots in Washington and stormed their memorials, monuments and national parks in an act of civil disobedience.

Americans of every background have taken to the #Barrycades, most notably heroic veterans of the Second World War, who marched upon the World War II memorial almost immediately as the shutdown began.

Truckers brought traffic on Washington’s Beltway to a grinding halt, and students massed together to clean the Pearl Harbor memorial.

All of these individual acts of patriotic initiative culminated in the “Million Vets March” which stormed Washington Sunday, as citizens joined together “to petition the Government for a redress of grievances,” and to peacefully protest against the tyrannical tactics their country’s government has employed to coerce their obedience.

(Twitchy.com has an EXCELLENT post with tons of great photos of the event and the massive crowds, including people stacking barricades at the front of the White House.)

How to crystallize the emotion of the fight against Obama’s despotism? Well, liberals always seem to find that Broadway musicals are the highest possible expression of culture, so it seems fitting to employ one of their hymns for the current crusade. Courtesy of Les Mis:

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes!

Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Somewhere beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?

Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free!
