That is the title of a very thought-provoking article by Gary Younge of The Guardian, who asks a probing question that doesn’t seem to have any good answers. Younge outlines how Obama’s ascent to power seemingly had meaning, but now his interventions are too rare and too piecemeal to constitute a narrative. It’s rather telling that five years into a presidency that was supposed to be transformative has left a sour taste in many mouths.
